DAILY REFLECTION by Dr Tan Tek Seng

2 June 2025

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭

Christians are called to represent Christ in every area of life, whether it’s work, relationships, service, or even everyday conversations.

I give thanks to God upon learning of Datuk Lee Swee Seng’s appointment as a Federal Court Judge on May 20. His conferment by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, at Istana Negara marks a significant milestone in his distinguished legal career.  A man of integrity, fairness, and deep commitment to justice, Datuk Lee is guided by his Christian faith in every decision he makes. His rulings impact lives in profound ways, exemplified in the M. Indira Gandhi case, a landmark battle concerning the unilateral conversion of children to Islam. As High Court Judge, he ruled fairly, without fear or favor. Though the Court of Appeal later overturned his judgment, ruling that Sharia courts had sole jurisdiction over religious conversions, the case sparked intense debate over religious freedom and parental rights. Eventually, the Federal Court reinstated his original ruling, declaring the children's conversion invalid. It is a victory that strengthened protections for non-Muslim parents in Malaysia. Datuk Lee’s elevation to the Federal Court is a testimony to godly principles in leadership. May his unwavering dedication to truth and justice continue to bless and uphold righteousness in the nation.

Colossians 3:17 calls us to a life of integrity, purpose, and gratitude not just in Sunday worship but in every moment of our daily lives. It is a powerful reminder to live Christ-centered, honoring and glorifying Him in all we do.

“True peace is the presence of justice."

DAILY REFLECTION - By Dr Tan Tek Seng
29 May 2025

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭

Like a tree drawing nourishment from deep roots, believers must remain firmly anchored in God’s truth, drawing strength from His Word and abiding presence.

Rev. Dr. Bill Newman pis a prominent Australian evangelist known for his extensive preaching ministry across Australia and internationally for over 40 years.  His unwavering commitment to the gospel and consistent biblical teaching reflect a solid foundation in Christ’s truths, inspiring believers toward spiritual growth and maturity.
His ministry is firmly rooted in sound doctrine, with a clearly articulated statement of faith

that upholds biblical truth. As an influential communicator, he has authored best-selling books, contributed regularly to Australian newspapers, and engaged countless lives through his dynamic speaking. Recognized as a respected national statesman, he has earned endorsements from Prime Ministers, Government Leaders, and Civic Authorities for his positive contributions to society. His greatest passion is sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ, bringing hope, faith, and transformation to those he reaches. His ministry stands as a beacon of encouragement, reminding believers of the unshakable foundation found in Christ.

Colossians‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭calls Christians to walk steadfastly in Christ, growing in faith and overflowing with gratitude - a life fully surrendered to His guidance, strengthened by His truth, and enriched by His presence.

DAILY REFLECTION

"A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy rots the bones,"
Proverbs 14:30

Inner peace is the cornerstone of both physical and spiritual well-being, while unchecked envy and bitterness can quietly erode the soul.

Consider the human heart, though weighing less than 450g, it faithfully beats 100,000 times a day and over 2.5 billion times in a lifetime. The intricate web of arteries, veins, and capillaries stretches an astounding 100,000 kilometres - enough to encircle the earth twice. Yet, despite its remarkable design, the heart is most powerful when filled with peace.  Saul’s story in the Bible offers a profound lesson about the consequences of a restless and envious heart. Chosen by God and anointed by the prophet Samuel, Saul led Israel to great victories. However, his reign unraveled under the weight of disobedience and jealousy. His

envy of David, a young shepherd favored for his devotion and triumphs, poisoned his soul, leading to a tragic downfall. Saul’s life stands as a sobering reminder that true success is sustained through humility, obedience, and a heart anchored in God’s peace.

Proverbs 14:30 illuminates the path to a tranquil heart, urging believers to embrace contentment, gratitude, and trust in God. By cultivating inner peace, we not only strengthen our own well-being but also become living reflections of God's love to the world.

“Success is measured by your discipline and inner peace.”

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12‬ ‭

The Church must stand in prayer, wisdom, and action - shining Christ’s light into darkness and declaring His truth to a world longing for redemption.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a violent extremist group that emerged from al-Qaeda in Iraq in 2004. Known for their brutal tactics including mass killings, beheadings, and the destruction of cultural heritage. Their reign of terror has caused immense suffering and displacement across the Middle East and beyond. Their ideology, which seeks to justify such atrocities, serves as a stark reminder of the “spiritual forces of evil”at work in the world - using individuals and systems to spread fear, oppression, and destruction. Beyond the visible conflicts, there is a deeper, unseen battle waged against truth and righteousness. The horrific acts of ISIS highlight the urgent need for Christians to stand firm in God’s Word and the armor of righteousness, resist deception, walk in truth, and remain faithful amidst the world's moral and spiritual challenges.

Ephesians 6:12 calls believers to be vigilant and spiritually prepared, not just against human opposition, but against the unseen forces of darkness that seek to control the world.

“The solution for mankind is of a spiritual nature. It is not a political or religious solution. It's the ability to love each other."

DAILY REFLECTION - Dr Tan Tek Seng

“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. “

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬ ‭

God’s abundant grace is the foundation of our faith. It is an unshakable source of hope, strength, and provision.

Dr. Philip Lyn, founding pastor of Skyline SIB Church in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, is uniquely called as a bi-vocational pastor, practicing medicine while leading his congregation. His preaching is vibrant and expository, blending humour, personal stories, and relatable insights to bring scripture to life. With a heart for faith, grace, and the Holy Spirit, he speaks at conferences on workplace challenges, family dynamics, men’s issues, poverty, and spiritual revival - equipping believers to walk boldly in their calling. Balancing the roles of doctor and pastor, he ministers to both the physical and spiritual needs of his congregation, relying on God’s strength and resilience. His dual calling is a testament to God’s provision, sufficiency, and holistic approach to ministry - an inspiring witness to grace that sustains every aspect of life. He also authored “The Invasive Kingdom”, a thought-provoking book that challenges the divide between secular and sacred life, urging believers to live out their faith boldly in the workplace as an extension of worship.

Philippians 4:19 reminds us to trust in God’s provision, even in uncertainty, knowing He meets every need according to His perfect plan - shifting our perspective from fear to His overflowing grace.

“God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supplies.”

“If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭10‬ ‭

Helping others isn’t just an act of kindness - it’s a source of spiritual illumination that dispels the darkness of despair for both the giver and the receiver.

Pastor Bill Wilson, the visionary founder of Metro World Child, has dedicated his life to bringing hope to children in impoverished urban areas. Having faced abandonment as a child, he understands firsthand that true healing comes only through the unfailing love of Christ. His story is one of resilience, faith, and unwavering commitment to reaching those society often overlooks. His work is a testament to the truth that no matter how humble your beginnings, God has a special plan for every life. He is a renowned speaker and author of several books, including the bestselling “Whose Child Is This?”, his vision continues to inspire and transform communities across the globe. His ministry stands as a powerful reminder that selfless love and unwavering faith can change the course of lives forever.

Isaiah 58:10 reminds us that true righteousness is found in serving the vulnerable. When we give, we receive immeasurable blessings, and in lifting others, we find our own lives illuminated.

“Out of pain and problems have cone the sweetest songs, and the most gripping stories.”

-Billy Graham

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭

Serving others is not just an act of kindness - it is a pathway to profound spiritual fulfillment and rest.

Anne Sullivan’s life is a testament to the transformative power of perseverance and compassion. Despite losing her sight at a young age and facing immense hardships, she pursued education at the Perkins School for the Blind, equipping herself to uplift others facing similar challenges. Her journey of resilience uniquely prepared her to guide Helen Keller, who struggled with both blindness and deafness. Anne’s role extended beyond mere instruction; she became a lifeline, offering unwavering patience, encouragement, and a deep, personal commitment to Keller’s growth. Through her

compassionate dedication, Keller was not only educated but empowered to become a voice of inspiration to the world. Anne’s devotion to Keller brought transformation to both their lives, we too can discover rest and joy when we extend grace and understanding to those in need.

Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬ ‭calls believers to trust in Christ, laying down their burdens to receive His peace. It serves as a reminder that in our most difficult moments, His rest is freely given to all who seek refuge in Him.

“There's no rest in any other direction. He alone is the source of life and joy and soul rest.”
-Billy Graham

DAILY REFLECTION - BY DR. TAN TEK SENG
15 May 2025 -

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭

Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey - one that flourishes through mentorship and intentional pursuit. It’s not about reaching a destination but about continual transformation.

Bob L. Phillips, a respected apostolic leader, has dedicated decades to Christian ministry, serving alongside David Wilkerson at Times Square Church and later leading Encourager Church in Houston, Texas, where he founded the Kingdom School of Ministry. His teachings inspire believers to actively engage in prayer, Bible study, and fellowship, fueling their spiritual maturity. He has also empowered pastors to reclaim preaching as a prophetic

voice for cultural change, bridging the gap between private faith and public life. A champion of religious liberty, he works to infuse society with Godly perspectives and Christian virtues.

2 Corinthians 3:18 reminds us that transformation is an ongoing process. When believers fix their eyes on Christ and stay open to the Holy Spirit’s work, they are continually shaped into His likeness - offering hope and encouragement for the journey ahead.

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

DAILY REFLECTION - BY DR. TAN TEK SENG
20 May 2025

“The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭33‬:‭5‬ ‭

God's love reaches every corner of creation, offering hope and redemption even in the midst of hardship. His love embraces all of humanity and the natural world.

Reinhold Niebuhr was an American Reformed theologian, ethicist, commentator on politics and public affairs, and professor at Union Theological Seminary for more than 30 years. He was one of America's leading public intellectuals who shaped 20th-century thought with his Christian realism. He emphasised justice and righteousness while acknowledging human imperfection.

Though sin and the pursuit of power can distort even noble efforts to create a just society, he urged active engagement in the fight for justice. He believed God’s love and mercy weren’t passive but served as a driving force, inspiring perseverance even in the face of obstacles. His view of Christian realism mirrors the message of Psalms 33:5, affirming God’s justice, human imperfection, and His steadfast love leading creation toward righteousness.

Psalms 33:5 beautifully affirms God’s steadfast commitment to justice and His limitless love for creation. It calls us to embrace His moral truth while trusting in His abundant grace.

“The more we humble ourselves before God, the more grace He pours into our lives."
