DAILY REFLECTION

“Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.”
Psalms‬ ‭133‬:‭3‬ ‭

In a world often fractured by racial, cultural, political, and religious divides, unity is a healing force.

On September 16, 2024, Michael Tong Wai Siong also known as Uncle Mike, was honored with the National Maulidur Rasul Award at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) by His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim. As the only Chinese recipient on this sacred day for the Muslim community, his recognition was more than symbolic - it was a testament to the power of love that transcends boundaries.

Despite differences in race and religion, he adopted three Malay boys : Rafei, Rasyid, and Abdul Rahman from an orphanage, choosing compassion over convention. He nurtured their spiritual growth, ensured they remained rooted in their faith, and celebrated their traditions with reverence and joy. His home became a sanctuary of harmony, where respect and love were the daily language.

He was more than a provider- he was a pillar of strength. He showed up for every milestone, offered wisdom in moments of uncertainty, and gave generously of his time, attention, and resources. He remembered names, stories, and struggles, making each person feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

His life is a living testimony of unity. His care for his adopted sons reflects a truth that familial bonds and communal harmony are not confined by race or religion - they are shaped by grace, empathy, and shared humanity. His example inspires us to build bridges where walls once stood, and to believe in the beauty of a united, flourishing community.

Psalm 133:3 encourages us to work towards unity that transcends race, language, or culture. It calls us to pursue reconciliation, honor diversity, and seek peace in our relationships.

“Where unity dwells, God commands His blessing.”
