DAILY REFLECTION

“The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.”
Isaiah‬ ‭58‬:‭11‬ ‭

A well-watered garden is like a life deeply rooted in righteousness and guided by ethical principles blossoms with spiritual and emotional vitality.

Dr. Ho Kai Cheong, the founder of the renowned Ho Yan Hor herbal tea brand, exemplified this truth. Beginning his journey as a humble Chinese physician, he devoted himself to meeting the health needs of his local community. With compassion in his heart and healing in his hands, he offered care to the needy, treating common ailments like colds, fevers, and body heat with remedies drawn from nature’s wisdom. His herbal tea became a trusted solution, born from both tradition and innovation. His life was marked by resilience. He endured war, poverty, and hardship - yet he transformed each challenge into an opportunity. From shop assistant to soldier, farmer to physician, he was a man of remarkable versatility and unwavering perseverance. He passed away in January 2007 at the age of 97 having generously given considerable amounts to charity and his legacy was carried forward by his son, David Ho, who expanded the family’s vision into the global pharmaceutical company Hovid Berhad. In January 2016, the Ho Yan Hor Museum was established in loving memory of a father deeply cherished by his children. It stands today not only as a tribute to Dr. Ho’s entrepreneurial journey but as a celebration of his enduring spirit through seasons of hardship and triumph. Truly, Dr. Ho was greatly blessed, highly honoured, and deeply loved.

Isaiah 58:11 promises abundant life - divine guidance, provision, strength, and unwavering renewal to those who live lives of love, justice, and service. It’s the blessing that comes from aligning our lives reflecting God’s heart.

“Through hard work, perseverance, and a faith in God, you can live your dreams."
