DAILY REFLECTION

“Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.”
Proverbs 21:21

When someone chooses what is right - even at personal cost - they reflect the heart of God. Such choices carry the fragrance of heaven, revealing that righteousness is not just a moral stance but a pathway to divine blessing.

Joey Romano, a college senior at the University of Texas, was injured in a skateboarding accident. Alone and in agony, he called for an Uber instead of an ambulance. That decision led him to Beni Lukumu, a driver whose compassion transcended duty. Lukumu lifted Romano into his car, rushed him to the ER, refused payment, and stayed by his side for hours. His quiet presence, his sacrificial love, and his unwavering kindness spoke volumes.

Romano, still grieving the loss of his brother, had been drowning in isolation. But Lukumu’s selfless care pierced the fog of sorrow. In that moment, Romano glimpsed the love of God - not in thunderous miracles, but in the gentle mercy of a stranger who chose to care.

Lukumu’s actions echo the truth of Proverbs 21:21. True wealth is not measured in bank accounts or accolades, but in the lives we lift, the burdens we bear, and the love we dare to give.

In a world often driven by self-interest, Lukumu reminds us that kindness still heals, love still matters, and righteousness still opens the door to heaven’s favor.

Proverbs 21:21 reminds us that the pursuit of godly character leads to a life that is rich, meaningful, and honored both on earth and in eternity.

“Character in the believer is a consistent manifestation of Jesus in his life.”
