DAILY REFLECTION

“Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
Isaiah‬ ‭46‬:‭4‬ ‭

God’s love spans the entire journey of life, from cradle to gray hairs, and His promise to carry and deliver us never changes.

Cliff Young’s life is a vivid reminder of this truth. An Australian potato farmer turned ultramarathon runner, he stunned the world in 1983 by winning the inaugural Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultramarathon - an 875km race - at the age of 61. As a boy, he had spent long days on foot rounding up 2,000 sheep across his family’s 2,000-acre farm. That early endurance shaped him for a victory few thought possible.

With no formal training, and against younger, seasoned competitors, Cliff ran with quiet determination, completing the race in 5 days, 15 hours, and 4 minutes - setting a new world record. His victory was a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the truth that age is no barrier when purpose and faith align.

Cliff’s story mirrors God’s promise in Isaiah 46:4. His life reminds us that no matter our age, God can empower us to overcome challenges, break barriers, and accomplish what others might call impossible.

Isaiah 46:4 is a timeless reminder that God’s care does not diminish with the passing years. Even in old age, He promises to sustain, carry, and deliver His people. This truth calls us to place our confidence not in our own strength, but in His unfailing provision and guidance.

“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies."
