DAILY REFLECTION

“Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
Isaiah‬ ‭46‬:‭4‬ ‭

God’s love spans the entire journey of life, from cradle to gray hairs, and His promise to carry and deliver us never changes.

Cliff Young’s life is a vivid reminder of this truth. An Australian potato farmer turned ultramarathon runner, he stunned the world in 1983 by winning the inaugural Westfield Sydney to Melbourne Ultramarathon - an 875km race - at the age of 61. As a boy, he had spent long days on foot rounding up 2,000 sheep across his family’s 2,000-acre farm. That early endurance shaped him for a victory few thought possible.

With no formal training, and against younger, seasoned competitors, Cliff ran with quiet determination, completing the race in 5 days, 15 hours, and 4 minutes - setting a new world record. His victory was a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the truth that age is no barrier when purpose and faith align.

Cliff’s story mirrors God’s promise in Isaiah 46:4. His life reminds us that no matter our age, God can empower us to overcome challenges, break barriers, and accomplish what others might call impossible.

Isaiah 46:4 is a timeless reminder that God’s care does not diminish with the passing years. Even in old age, He promises to sustain, carry, and deliver His people. This truth calls us to place our confidence not in our own strength, but in His unfailing provision and guidance.

“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies."

DAILY REFLECTION

“For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.”Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭12‬ ‭

In the face of life's fleeting nature and the certainty of death, every task we undertake demands our utmost dedication and excellence.

On 17 July 2025, the Malaysian medical community was stunned by the sudden passing of Dr. Yoong Boon Koon at the age of 54. A leading hepatobiliary and liver transplant surgeon, Dr. Yoong was known not only for his surgical brilliance but for his unwavering dedication to patients, colleagues, and the advancement of medical science. He served as Head of the General Surgery Division and Chair of the Liver Transplantation Unit at University Malaya Medical Center, and played a pivotal role in shaping the HPB chapter and the 2023 Scientific Congress. His leadership was marked by excellence, humility, and a deep sense of calling.

His unexpected departure is a sobering reminder that life is fragile and tomorrow is never guaranteed. Despite his accomplishments and influence, his journey was cut short - yet his impact endures. He lived with purpose, served with compassion, and led with integrity.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 urges us to seize each moment. Life's brevity and limited opportunities mean we must avoid complacency and instead, pursue every task with diligence, passion, and faithfulness. Our actions today have eternal consequences.

“The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living"

DAILY REFLECTION

“Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.”
Ecclesiastes‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭

Imagine a young Chinese boy, born into poverty, facing the weight of life’s limitations.  Yet through divine providence, he was adopted by a Malay school principal - an act of compassion that change the trajectory of his life.

That boy, Yew Ming Seong, is Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Hj Noor Hisham bin Abdullah, a name etched in Malaysia’s history as a symbol of resilience, excellence, and service. Despite financial hardship, he pursued education with unwavering determination, graduating from University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) with a medical degree and a Master in Surgery. His journey from a modest background to becoming Director-General of Health and President of the Malaysia Medical Council (2013–2023) is a testament to the power of perseverance and purpose.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Noor Hisham stood as a pillar of calm and courage. His leadership was marked by tireless dedication, strategic wisdom, and a deep sense of responsibility. He used his expertise not for personal gain, but to safeguard the health of a nation.

For his exemplary leadership in managing the healthcare sector response in the COVID-19 pandemic, he was awarded the BrandLaureate Awards for “Outstanding BrandLeadership Award 2020” by The World Brands Foundation (TWBF), and his alma mater’s “UKM Most Notable Alumni 2019”.

Today, he continues to serve as Chairman of the National Heart Institute (IJN), Chairman of UCSI Healthcare Group, and Chancellor of Cyberjaya University, inspiring a new generation to rise beyond limitations and lead with compassion.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 calls us to wholehearted living. It urges us to pour our time, energy, and love into every task with unwavering devotion. It’s a sacred reminder that life is fleeting, opportunities are precious, and settling for mediocrity dishonors the gifts God has entrusted to us.

“Live fully, love deeply, and serve boldly.“

DAILY REFLECTION

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man"
Proverbs 3:3-4

When believers choose to walk in love and faithfulness, they become vessels of God’s grace - building bridges of trust, reflecting His character, and honoring Him in every relationship.

Ruth’s story is a shining example to this truth. Though a Moabite by birth, she embraced a life of covenant loyalty when she chose to stay with Naomi, her widowed mother-in-law, after the death of their husbands. In a time of grief and uncertainty, Ruth’s decision was driven by love, compassion, and unwavering faith.

She left behind her homeland and stepped into the unknown, committing herself to Naomi’s care with the powerful affirmation : “Where you go, I will go… your God will be my God.” Through tireless labor and quiet devotion, Ruth’s character shone brightly. Her kindness caught the attention of Boaz, a kinsman redeemer, who honored her integrity and welcomed her into his life.

Their union became part of God’s redemptive plan - Ruth, once a foreigner, was grafted into the lineage of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ. Her legacy is one of love that crosses boundaries, faithfulness that defies fear, and redemption that echoes through generations.

Proverbs 3:3-4 reminds us that a life marked by kindness and covenant love is never forgotten. It builds trust, inspires hope, and leaves a legacy that honors God.

“The person who receives the most favors is the one who knows how to return them.”

DAILY REFLECTION

“Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.”
Psalms‬ ‭133‬:‭3‬ ‭

In a world often fractured by racial, cultural, political, and religious divides, unity is a healing force.

On September 16, 2024, Michael Tong Wai Siong also known as Uncle Mike, was honored with the National Maulidur Rasul Award at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) by His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim. As the only Chinese recipient on this sacred day for the Muslim community, his recognition was more than symbolic - it was a testament to the power of love that transcends boundaries.

Despite differences in race and religion, he adopted three Malay boys : Rafei, Rasyid, and Abdul Rahman from an orphanage, choosing compassion over convention. He nurtured their spiritual growth, ensured they remained rooted in their faith, and celebrated their traditions with reverence and joy. His home became a sanctuary of harmony, where respect and love were the daily language.

He was more than a provider- he was a pillar of strength. He showed up for every milestone, offered wisdom in moments of uncertainty, and gave generously of his time, attention, and resources. He remembered names, stories, and struggles, making each person feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

His life is a living testimony of unity. His care for his adopted sons reflects a truth that familial bonds and communal harmony are not confined by race or religion - they are shaped by grace, empathy, and shared humanity. His example inspires us to build bridges where walls once stood, and to believe in the beauty of a united, flourishing community.

Psalm 133:3 encourages us to work towards unity that transcends race, language, or culture. It calls us to pursue reconciliation, honor diversity, and seek peace in our relationships.

“Where unity dwells, God commands His blessing.”

DAILY REFLECTION

“Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.”
Proverbs‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬ ‭

In a world where relationships often falter under pressure and commitment is tested by convenience, God calls us to nurture our marriages rooted in faithfulness, joy, and enduring love.

One such testimony shines brightly is the enduring marriage of Malaysia’s Former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir, now 100, and his wife Dr Siti Hasmah, 99. Married for 68 years, their journey together has weathered the storms and celebrated the sunshine. Through decades of change, challenge, and triumph, they have remained steadfast - supporting, encouraging, and honoring one another with unwavering loyalty.

Their love story is not marked by fleeting romance, but by cultivated commitment. In a culture often tempted by shortcuts and compromise, they have upheld the sanctity of marriage with integrity, avoiding the pitfalls that could tarnish their relationship. Their faithfulness is not only a gift to each other, but a legacy to their family and community - a living testimony of trust, perseverance, and grace.

From youthful vigor to middle-age responsibilities, and now into the golden years, they exemplify what it means to rejoice in one another through every season of life. Their shared journey reminds us that joy in marriage is not merely an emotion - it is a daily decision to love, honor, and cherish. Their marriage is a role model for the younger couples. It provides a beacon of hope that says: lasting love is possible. Faithfulness is beautiful. And true joy is found not in perfection, but in the sacred rhythm of walking together, hand in hand, heart to heart, year after year.

Proverbs 5:18 is a reminder that love is not just an emotion but a commitment, deepened over time. When couples honor this principle, they not only protect their relationship from destruction but also create a legacy of stability, joy, and faithfulness that inspires others.

“Tolerance is needed for a healthy and balanced relationship.”

DAILY REFLECTION

“When I see the rainbow in the clouds, I will remember the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth.”
Genesis‬ ‭9‬:‭16‬ ‭

In a world often marked by uncertainty and racial divides, believers are called to anchor their hope, extending forgiveness, practicing stewardship, and pursuing reconciliation that reflect the heart of God.

Yesterday, as my wife and I were driven by our daughter from Oxford to Heathrow, a breathtaking sight appeared in the sky: a double rainbow. It stirred something deep within me - a vivid reminder of God’s covenant with Noah and his descendants after the flood (Genesis 9:16). That rainbow was more than a natural wonder; it was a divine symbol of hope, restoration, and peace. And in that moment, my thoughts turned to Malaysia.

Our beloved nation is richly woven with racial and cultural threads - approximately 60% Malays, 23% Chinese, 7% Indians, and 10% indigenous peoples. Yet, despite this beautiful diversity, we continue to face challenges of division and misunderstanding. But the rainbow reminds us: unity is possible. Peace is promised. Restoration is near.

The recent triumph of badminton champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei at the 2025 BMF in Paris was more than a sporting achievement. As Malaysians of Chinese descent, their heartfelt dedication of their victory to the entire nation on our 68th Independence Day became a powerful gesture of unity. Their victory, echoing the rainbow of Genesis, stands as a covenantal sign: that in our shared joys, we find common ground. That in moments of national pride, racial lines blur and hearts beat as one. That in honoring one another, we honor the God who made us all.

Genesis 9:16 reminds us of God’s faithfulness and calls us to live as covenant people by building bridges, celebrating each other’s victories, and sowing seeds of peace.

DAILY REFLECTION

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
Psalm 116:15

Saints are treasures in God’s kingdom. Their passing stirs both grief and gratitude - grief, because we will deeply miss them; gratitude, because God has lovingly received them into His eternal embrace.

When I received the shocking news of the passing of our fellow board member and dear friend, Rev. Dr. Daniel Cheah, on the morning of August 19, my heart grieved the loss of a beloved brother in Christ. It is difficult to grasp that he is no longer with us in the physical sense.

Rev. Dr. Daniel Cheah served as the Senior Pastor of His Sanctuary of Glory (HSG), preaching with unwavering passion for God and His church. Through his Spirit-led ministry, countless lives were transformed - whether in seminars, leadership conferences, or churches across the globe. He planted and supported churches and ministries not only in Malaysia but also in Myanmar, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, China, Ghana, Nigeria, and Thailand.

A visionary leader, Rev. Dr. Cheah inspired the church to pursue its God-given potential, nurturing a vibrant congregation and expanding the reach of global ministry. His dedication was precious in the eyes of the Lord. His service, teachings, and impact stand as a living testimony of his faith, making his passing not merely a loss but a sacred moment of being welcomed home.

His departure from this world is not the end of his story. His legacy lives on in the hearts he touched, the ministries he built, and the eternal rest he now enjoys in the glorious presence of the Lord.

Psalm 116:15 reminds us that the believer’s death is not meaningless or overlooked. It is a moment God treasures, a transition He ordains, and a victory He celebrates. For the child of God, death is not to be feared but embraced as the doorway to eternal joy with the Lord.

“Joy is the simplest form of gratitude."

DAILY REFLECTION

“Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.”
Proverbs‬ ‭16‬:‭32‬

True greatness is not measured by achievements or dominance, but by a life aligned with the Spirit of God.

Samson, a legendary warrior and judge from the tribe of Dan, led Israel for twenty years, wielding extraordinary strength to confront the Philistines. His power was a divine gift - he killed a lion with his bare hands and defeated a thousand enemies using only the jawbone of a donkey. His downfall came not from external forces, but from within. He failed to govern his spirit and control his passions. Anger, revenge, and lust clouded his judgment, leading him to violate his Nazirite vow and pursue destructive relationships. His entanglement with Delilah, driven by unchecked desire, ended in betrayal and the loss of his strength. Ultimately, his inability to master himself made him vulnerable, and his story reminds us that true greatness is not found in conquering others, but in conquering oneself. In contrast, Jesus embodied perfect patience and self-control. He chose obedience to God’s will - even unto death - demonstrating that the greatest victory is found in surrender to the Father.

Proverbs 16:32 is a call to redirect our pursuit of greatness. True victory is not measured by achievements or dominance but by the ability to live in alignment with God’s Spirit. Through prayer, reliance on the Holy Spirit, and daily practice of restraint, we can cultivate this inner strength that leads to peace, wisdom, and lasting influence.

“True power comes from mastering oneself, not others. “
