DAILY REFLECTION

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭

The Christian journey is not without struggle. It is marked by trials, setbacks, and moments of deep testing. Yet it is a ray of hope, a sense of divine purpose, and the promise of an eternal reward.

John Stephen Akhwari was a Tanzanian marathon runner who competed in the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.  During the race, he suffered a  severe fall, dislocating his knee and injuring his shoulder. Most would have given up. But he pressed on, limping through the pain, long after the stadium had emptied and the medals had been awarded. When the reporter asked why he continued despite the agony and the fact that the race had long been won, he replied: “My country did not send me 5,000 miles to start the race; they sent me 5,000 miles to finish the race.”He did not finish first, but he finished faithful. His story echoes a deeper truth for every believer: we are not called merely to begin the race of faith, we are called to finish it well.

2 Timothy 4:7 reminds believers that faithfulness is not measured by speed or applause, but by endurance. We may stumble, we may bleed but we press on - not for earthly accolades, but to fulfill the purpose for which we were sent.

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
