DAILY REFLECTION

“Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived.”
1 Corinthians 6:9
Last night, Noel Tang shared an insightful and timely message during Family First Malaysia’s Zoominar, entitled “Don’t Get Scammed: Outsmarting AI-Powered Fraud.”
His presentation highlighted a growing concern in our digital world. While AI has brought remarkable benefits, it has also enabled scammers to create convincing fake voices, messages, and impersonations that can deceive even the most cautious individuals.
As I reflected on his message, I was reminded of Paul’s warning in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 against unrighteousness, including theft, greed, and swindling. Although the methods of deception have changed dramatically, the sinful motives behind them remain the same: dishonesty, greed, and the desire to profit at another person’s expense.
Technology itself is morally neutral. What matters is the heart and intention of the person using it. The same AI that can improve lives can also become a powerful instrument of deception when placed in dishonest hands.
Yet this message challenges us to look beyond protecting ourselves from scams. As followers of Christ, we are called not only to recognise deception but also to reject dishonesty in our own lives.
In a world where seeing and hearing no longer guarantee authenticity, we must exercise greater discernment. Before trusting an urgent request or transferring money, we should pause, verify the information, and seek wise counsel. We must also protect the elderly and vulnerable, who may be especially susceptible to sophisticated scams.
Above all, let us remember that integrity is not merely about avoiding wrongdoing; it is about choosing to honour God in everything we do.
Technology will continue to evolve, but God’s truth remains unchanged. May we be wise enough to recognise deception, courageous enough to stand for truth, and faithful enough to reflect Christ’s character in an increasingly digital world. In an age when technology can imitate voices, faces, and messages, may our lives bear an unmistakably genuine witness to the truth of Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, grant us wisdom to discern truth from deception. Protect us and our loved ones from fraud, and guard our hearts against greed and dishonesty. Help us walk in integrity, stand firmly for truth, and reflect Your character in all we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
