"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the spiritually contrite."
Psalm 34:18

The presence of God is not symbolic, but vibrant, supportive, and extremely close to the human heart.

The worst fires in Hong Kong in over 60 years have claimed at least 55 lives, with hundreds still missing. The suddenness of the disaster, the loss of life, and the suffering of those left behind have left an indescribable scar on the city.

Even before the embers have cooled—amidst tears, fear, and unsolvable problems—His presence is so intimate. He brings not explanation, but comfort; not quick solutions, but the power to bring rest to the soul.

This tragedy reminds us of the fragility of life. Even the safest place can instantly become a place of sorrow. Yet, in the darkest valleys, we discover a sacred truth: the place of grief is often where God's love is most clearly felt.

God hears the prayers of every family that has lost a loved one. He gathers every tear and sustains them. He supports survivors and frontline aid workers with superhuman strength. He infuses hope into lost cities.

As Hong Kong mourns, may His presence bring comfort, resilience, and renewed strength to face the days to come.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that suffering does not distance us from God—it draws Him closer. In the valley of sorrow, His presence is not distant, but gentle and intimate. He brings a gentle yet powerful assurance: you are not alone. God bends down to the heartbroken, gathering every tear, and supporting the weak. His unchanging love will surely guide you through this darkness.
